On Waco Season 1 Episode 1 – “Visions and Omens”, nine months before the Waco incident started, Koresh preaches to his Branch Davidians about what joy is. Afterwards, he and a few of his followers performed as a cover band at a bar where Koresh met David Thibodeau. Steve and Judy Schneider tried many times to have a baby. When Judy was finally pregnant, Steve had uneasy feelings about it.
Meanwhile, head of the FBI Crisis Negotiation Unit Gary Noesner was assigned to Ruby Ridge to help diffuse the standoff. Six months later, the ATF was criticized for the way the Ruby Ridge case was handled, and Noesner had some concerns about the written report. As soon as ATF received word that a shipment of weapons was bound for Mount Carmel in Waco, the team starts surveillance on the compound.

In February 1993, the ATF conducts a raid on a small religious community near Waco, Texas, beginning a 51-day stand-off between the two sides. The Bureau for Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, better known as the ATF, attempted to raid the Branch Dividians Ranch in Waco, Texas.
The botched first attempt led to dead officers and civilians inside the compound and kicked off a 51-day standoff between the government and the Davidians leader David Koresh.
The six-part miniseries was created by John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle. Additionally, John wrote the series with Drew directing and both brothers are executive producers.
